Sundog is a collaborative, online, multiplayer platform for all scientists working with biological images.

Right now, biologists miss discoveries because their software fails them. It’s too complicated, it’s too expensive, and it’s not built for the thing that drives the field: collaboration.Sundog sets out to change that. Designed from the ground up as a collaborative tool, it combines best-of-breed user experience, modern browser technologies, and robust scientific know-how to make working with image data delightful.Sundog launches in alpha Q1 2026.

Product

Online

Sundog is available in a web browser, wherever you are in the world. Your images are available at full resolution, in our quick and straightforward fullscreen viewer, and stored securely in the cloud. When you produce figures or exports, they’re saved within Sundog: no need to hunt down old archives when you need to make a change.

Multiplayer

Sundog’s image tooling is designed for multiple users by default. See each other’s cursors, comments and annotations in real-time; receive notifications of updates to experiments within your lab via the app or email.

Collaborative

Sundog is built for labs. Work alongside your lab colleagues, in the familiar context of Experiments and Projects. Invite collaborators from other labs to only the specific work you need to share with them. Everything in Sundog has a URL: go straight from an activity notification to the region of interest it’s describing within an image.

Integrated

Sundog is designed to complement your existing workflow and tools. Import images - including metadata - from major devices. Integrate with machine learning tools like segmentation models via APIs or upload, adding their outputs as overlays to your images. And when you’re ready for output - whether it’s for a monthly slide deck in the lab, or a print-resolution poster or paper - Sundog’s figure generation tools make it straightforward to get accurate, beautiful images out.
